Re errors in the Spanish edition of Bertrand Russell—Philosopher of the Century. "1)The following pages in the Spanish edition are blank: 194 and 195, 198 and 199, 202 and 203, 206 and 207; and we would be grateful if you could ascertain whether or not these defects occur throughout this edition. 2) In both the Unwin and the Spanish edition the name of W.V. Quine is missing from the cover and Werner Bloch, the philosopher,  is described in the biographical notes as a surgeon. Would you kindly ensure that steps are taken to correct these errors."

Re Bertrand Russell Philosopher of the Century. "The pages you mention are not blank in the copy of the Spanish edition which we have on our files so I can only assume that you received a defective copy. As you know, the biography of Dr. Werner Bloch has already been corrected ... We are also reminding them that the name of W.V. Quine should appear on the cover."

"I have now heard that Lord Russell would be very pleased to see his two stories filmed and this at the earliest opportunity. His main concern, however, is that any film made of either story should faithfully reflect his original writings." Re a proposal to produce a film based on BR's Satan and the Suburbs and The Infra-Redioscope.

Thirteen pages of notes have been inserted between the title page and the blank leaf proceeding it of Felix Hausdorff's Das Chaos in kosmischer Auslese (Russell's Library, no. 1855). The notes are in German, and the hand is unidentified.

A request for review slip was inserted between pp. 280-1 of F.C.S. Schiller's Studies in Humanism (Russell's Library, no. 1853).

A "complimentary" invoice was inserted between the cover and the title page of George Gates's Ways We Write (Russell's Library, no. 1848). A "thesis sentence" is used in the book, taken from What I Believe.

A "with compliments" slip was inserted between the front endpapers of Stefan Themerson's Wykład Professora Mmaa (Russell's Library, no. 1846).

A floral note card was inserted between the front endpapers of Nancy Mitford's Pigeon Pie (Russell's Library, no. 1844). The card is an 80th birthday card to BR from "E.F." (Edith Finch). The book has a similar inscription from her.

A note in an unknown hand was inserted between the rear endpapers of W. Stanley Jevons' Elementary Lessons in Logic (Russell's Library, no. 1590).
 

An index card with manuscript notes and a newspaper clipping on the front and typed notes on the back was inserted between pp. 12-13 of Ernest Gellner's Words and Things (Russell's Library, no. 1480). The notes are by BR.

An index card with notes in the hand of Rupert Crawshay-Williams was inserted between pp. 228-9 of Ernest Gellner's Words and Things (Russell's Library, no. 1480). Affixed to the card is a clipping of BR's "Review Refused" (B&R C59.22).

A review copy slip was inserted between the front cover and the half-title page of Alice Mary Hilton's Logic, Computing Machines, and Automation (Russell's Library, no, 1594).

Three newspaper clippings on automation, dated in Edith Russell's hand, were inserted between the front endpapers of Mary Alice Hilton's Logic, Computing Machines, and Automation (Russell's Library, no. 1593).

Part of an envelope with a sticker "OPENED BY" [the wartime censor] affixed to it was inserted between the rear endpapers of Andrew Paul Ushenko's The Problems of Logic (Russell's Library, no. 1592). The envelope has Silcox's return address.

A note was inserted between pp. 36-7 of Lancelot Hogben's Nature and Nurture (Russell's Library, no. 1612). The note is on stationery of The Hotel Portmeirion, Penrhyndeudraeth, North Wales. On the recto is a list of medical concerns about inheritance in Patricia's hand; on the verso, a grid of numbers in BR's hand.

A letter was stapled inside the front cover of F. Creedy's The Virtues Needed for Freedom (Russell's Library, no. 2068). The letter is from the author requesting BR write a brief foreword to this book.

A number of newspaper clippings were pasted onto advertisment pages at the end of David A. Wells' Recent Economic Changes (Russell's Library, no. 2714). There are dates and a few other annotations in Alys Russell's hand. There are two title articles: "The Sugar Trust and the Law", "The Great "Perish India" Motion", and two untitled articles.

A blank slip of paper was inserted between pp. 618-19, the advertisements section, of T.R. Malthus' An Essay on the Principle of Population (Russell's Library, no. 2602).

A letter was inserted between the front endpapers of O.R. McGregor's Divorce in England (Russell's Library, no. 2621). The publisher requests a review from BR if he is interested.

A note was inserted between pp. 102-3 of James Burnham's The Managerial Revolution (Russell's Library, no. 2675). In Patricia's hand, the note reads "vois fainéants" (see the rear free endpaper).

A letter was inserted between the front end papers of Stefan Themerson's St. Francis and the Wolf of Gubbio (Russell's Library, no. 2488). Themerson discusses the score, apologizing for a reference to BR in the Intermezzo and wishes him a happy birthday. The reference is marked with a paper clip.
