Re the aims of the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation. "It was born of despair of the complete failure of all disarmament congresses and at what seemed a complete lack of desire on both sides to reach agreement. .... I should regard its work, rather, as an attempt to help and supplement the work of the United Nations. ... the first step was to make Governments and the public aware that a nuclear war was, at almost any cost, to be avoided."

A leaflet for The Pioneer Histories and a business postcard was inserted between the pp. 78-9 of E.R. Hughes' The Invasion of China by the Western World (Russell's Library, no. 2506).

BR doubts that he will find time to read his book Freedom, Determinism and Indeterminism.
