"The question you ask me is one which has to be faced by all parents with unusual opinions. I think, on the whole, you would probably do better to send your daughter to Sunday School since otherwise she will suffer from feeling 'odd' and might easily acquire a wish for orthodoxy. But, if your daughter has any strong wish not to go to Sunday School, I should let her have her way."

BR responds to Islamist objections to Wisdom of the West.

"1) The British armies did flee from Dunkirk just as Mohammed fled from Mecca to Medina. 2) I do not believe that Mohammed or anyone else was impelled by 'divine inspiration'. 3) To call flight 'strategic withdrawal' is ludicrous. 4) The picture of the prophet should be displayed as a matter of interest to students and scholars. 5) Chauvinism is harmful and also accompanies the absence of any humour or humility.

Yours sincerely
BR

P.S. I am opposed to all superstition: Muslim, Christian, Jewish or Buddhist."
