A supplies (?) note was inserted between pp. 130-1 of J.C.L. de Sismondi's A History of the Italian Republics (Russell's Library, no. 869). The note had been folded over many times.

"Don't know".

125109

BR refers her to his Philosophy of Leibniz on windowless monads.

125110

BR does not remember his letter to Husserl, or ever meeting Husserl. "My early correspondence is in confusion". [Re Archives.]

125111

BR is willing in principle to give him an interview.

125112
BR cannot do such a chapter as she suggests because of work already undertaken.
125113
BR agrees to write an article for her, having found her letter and magazines very interesting.

BR accepts £5 for the books he left with Galloway.

125118

BR declines to give the annual Lord Davies Lecture.

125119

BR sends her 2 autographed books, but cannot at present find a time to visit her. Above the letter to Lloyd is another letter "5"—to Unwin, which was crossed out. It concerns a letter about a book title that BR does not recognize, "Before the Apocalypse", but he thinks it may be the Italian title of one of his books.

125120

A very clear letter on the Baruch proposal and the use BR wished the world had made of it.

BR hopes A.J.P. Taylor will modify what he has written: "As for A.J.P. Taylor's phrase that I 'warned them to undertake a preventive war in 1948' is hardly correct. I urged them to press the Baruch proposal, but I hoped that Russia would agree to it. I think perhaps you could induce him to modify this phrase. What would be entirely correct would be to substitute for the quoted words: 'wished America to use the utmost pressure to secure Russian acceptance of the Baruch proposal.'"

125121

BR sends Johnson's group a signed message on nuclear disarmament. The message follows on a separate sheet.

125122
On the private language problem.

125132

"The question at issue is part of the larger irrationality that we mind unpleasant things in the future more than in the past, which is why people like stories to have a happy ending."

125133

"No".

125134

"I am quite unable to predict whether mankind will prefer annihilation or a stable peace."

125135

BR offers "all best wishes for the success of your campaign" as a message for their leaflet.

125136

A letter to the editor, meant for publication but not published, on why BR's prison writings were abstract. Wildon Carr made BR delete from the review of Dewey a phrase "which he thought somebody could interpret as having some bearing on practical affairs." (The deletion concerned is probably that at TN135: 5 in Papers 8, or perhaps that at TN154: 21-2; see Rec. Acq. 411.)

125137

"I still flourish like a green bay tree". BR envies Hopkins his visit to Nepal and recalls a 1920 luncheon with him.

125138

BR asks Collins' view of the controversy with Goss over the Hiroshima Appeal.

125144

BR describes some changes he has made to Green's interview with him.

125145
BR points out anti-nuclear organizations for which the individual may work and avoid the feeling of helplessness.
125146
BR agrees to his photo being printed.

The draft letter is deleted and is replaced by the notation "2 books signed and returned to Tovazzi".

In the deleted letter BR points out 2 errors in the blurb of the Italian translation of Introduction to Mathematical Philosophy.

125158

BR cancels his reservations for Sept. 14 and following days.

125159

Post order dept.: BR returns his plane tickets to Paris and requests a refund.

BR is glad John still hopes to do drawing of him.

125162

"Childs account and cheques > Madams".

BR asks Collins to read the draft of his Trafalgar Square speech.

He recommends Belton's pictures as possibly useful to CND.

125164

BR tells Powell he will be in London from Sept. 10 to about the end of Sept., where it would be easier for a Japanese to see him.

125177
