92405

In response to two letters to the editor about Beacon Hill School.

92406

In response to two letters to the editor on Freud, Pavlov, and new teaching methods.

92407

Johnson is "looking after" Schoenman in Germany, which needs a Committee of 100 as soon as possible.

92408

A child has drawn a ship on the verso of the manuscript of "Christmas at Sea" and listed all five members of the Russell family.

92409

A letter concerning archaeological findings at Telegraph House was published as "Roman-Celtic Farm Site" and as from John Russell, but it is entirely and fluently in BR's hand with one alteration. The letter was then crossed out and the verso used as p. 1 of "On Ceremony".

92410

Published as "The British Party and Hitler". On Karl von Ossietsky, and on American neutralism.

92411

Published as "Air Raid Precautions".

See document .016342a for the speech outline on the verso.

92412

Published as "British Foreign Policy".

92413

Also in file: a carbon copy.

Published as "'Which Way to Peace?'".

92414

Published as "Philosophy and Common Sense".

92415

A detailed outline of an untitled speech on Britain and foreign affairs, probably the Fabian lecture, "The Future of Great Britain: Plan or No Plan?". The outline appears on the verso of B&R C35.31, published 10 Aug. 1935. The lecture was not given until 28 Nov. 1935.

92416

Schilpp thanks BR for his essay "The Philosophy of George Santayana", suggests corrections, and sends a carbon copy of the typescript. Schilpp asks for the return of the manuscript (which BR did not do).

92417

Marked "Draft" in Patricia Russell's hand.

92418

On a typed carbon of an objection to the newspapers' misrepresentation of BR's lecture on the war, May 22, 1940, in RA1 811, file 11. (See B&R C40.10a.)

92419

BR's gross income for 1941 is detailed on the verso of his notes on the "Negro Problem" for "The Problem of Minorities".

Patricia's (meagre) income is listed as well. The verso of the next sheet (a list of the lectures, with dates, for the series "Problems of Democracy") has BR's "balance" less several amounts owing.

92420
92421

Re Russian deportations.

Also in file: a transcription by R.W. Clark, 1975. This is not the letter BR sent a typed copy of to the New Statesman but withdrew upon protestations from Victor Gollancz towards the end of September 1945. See record 60418 for the letter that was sent at that time. (Clark misidentifies it.)
