My dear Kate
Thank you for your very nice letter of May 17. <text excised by K. Tait> She and Conrad are now at Portmeirion, and I join them there on July 2. In the meantime I shall go to Switzerland to lecture.1 There is no reason why Peter should ever again have to work too hard, <text excised by K. Tait>
I have had nice letters from John. I will do my best to like Susan, but fear it may be uphill work. He seems to be getting more reasonable in his opinions. I shall still be in College next term and hope to see a lot of him.
The big book I am writing,2 if it comes off, should be important. It is concerned with how much of what passes as impersonal knowledge is subjective, and how much objective. It will not be difficult, except possibly in a few bits; it is meant for people who are not technical philosophers. I have written about two thirds of it.
Conrad flourishes exceedingly. He goes to Dartington in September. All our troubles have cleared up, psychological, financial, and housekeeping. Much love, dear Kate.
