Dear Unwin

I wonder whether you have yet fixed a definite date for the publication of my History. Simon and Schuster seem satisfied with the way it is going in America; in the first few weeks they sold 15,000 copies.I am very willing to do what I can in the Lords on the question you raise. Would you like to draft a question for me to ask in the Lords,1 and supply me with relevant data?

I am doing a fairly big book (say 150,000 words) which I think of calling The Scope and Limits of Human Knowledge. I think it should sell very widely.

I should like to come and see you when I can next in London.

Lady Constance Malleson, who is a friend of mine, has lived in Sweden and is shortly coming home. She has difficulty in getting money in Sweden, and I wondered if the Swedish publishers of my books would be willing to advance her a small sum out of what they owe you. I could repay you, and she will repay me when she gets home. Her address is

Sundborn Sweden.

If you can arrange this I shall be grateful. It is rather urgent.

Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
