The Forward has printed it, except for one passage which Kanaar marks. He is finishing the last two chapters of his book, which he hopes Gollancz will publish. Kanaar is concerned to get the book published as soon as possible and inquires as to BR's clout in the publishing world. Kanaar hopes the book be published in France, the U.S.A., and Scandinavian countries.

Gollancz has marked this on the enclosed minutes. He asks BR again to confirm his speaking at the conference, and mentions he now has a list of the correspondents.

Gollancz has declined to publish Kanaar's book, and Kanaar has appealed to Gollancz (whom he believes is a "convinced pacifist") with a revised preface to the book. Kanaar includes copies of his letter to Gollancz, and a revised preface (in which he defends his critique of the Soviet régime).

An unattributed report on the book written by a member of Gollancz's publishing company is included but not mentioned by Kanaar. Kanaar's agent is seeking other publishers. Kanaar asks BR for permission to tell potential publishers of BR's offer to write a foreword to the book.

Upon discussing the matter of Gollancz's proposed conditions for peace in post-WWII Europe, a friend of Gollancz, "who was until recently a very high official of the Control Commission in Germany", thought that, rather than sending a letter to The Times, something from the draft copy Gollancz sent in the last letter could be printed in leaflet form. It could have "a really immense array of names, perhaps a thousand" and be circulated to the press. Gollancz asks BR's opinion of this idea.

Gollancz has revised the draft with amendments from Gilbert Murray who has been "extremely enthusiastic". The only major change is the omission of "unification", as "it would be better to say nothing about that topic." Murray believes that the best way to publicize the letter is to have it signed by BR, Murray, Gollancz, and if possible Halifax or Templewood "for the Tories". Gollancz will not contact the latter two until he hears from BR. The three-page draft is enclosed, as well as a copy of a letter to Murray from Gollancz.
