Manning is sorry that Hall has had to remind him to forward the £10 he promised at the meeting. He has been "contributing to other branches of the same fund already to the extent of 3.10.0 or I would have made the present contribution bigger."

Howard encloses a cheque for £1 as he promised the Fund.

He is "very glad to note the sum realised is now nearer £400 than the £305 announced at the meeting."

Duff sends two receipts for £105.15.0 and £116.9.0, and hopes that one receipt for the cheques totalling £105.15.0 will suffice. If individual receipts are needed, that can be arranged.

Duff mentions that a total of £350 in all is "excellent, and I wish all meetings produced equally good results."

Haire's private secretary writes that Haire had not received a receipt from the University Arms for staying there on Feb. 3 as all charges were forwarded to Patricia Russell. Haire would like Hall to know that his travelling expenses in connection with the visit totalled £1.13.6. She had forwarded this information to Victor Gollancz, who replied that Hall is responsible for all such expenses.

Kanaar hopes the book be published in France, the U.S.A., and Scandinavian countries.

Gollancz has marked this on the enclosed minutes. He asks BR again to confirm his speaking at the conference, and mentions he now has a list of the correspondents.

Gollancz has declined to publish Kanaar's book, and Kanaar has appealed to Gollancz (whom he believes is a "convinced pacifist") with a revised preface to the book. Kanaar includes copies of his letter to Gollancz, and a revised preface (in which he defends his critique of the Soviet régime).

An unattributed report on the book written by a member of Gollancz's publishing company is included but not mentioned by Kanaar. Kanaar's agent is seeking other publishers. Kanaar asks BR for permission to tell potential publishers of BR's offer to write a foreword to the book.

Rifaat is Minister Secretary of the Arab Socialist Union, U.A.R.

Rifaat tells BR his talks with Nicholas Johnson were "very fruitful", and that Al-Ahram published BR's article on Saudi Arabia. Rifaat suggests BR send a "lengthy article re nonalignment for the monthly Arab magazine El Katib."

Dino accepts BR's invitation to the conference, and provides an outline of the situation in Turkey regarding denuclearization and peace. At the end of the letter, Dino writes, "P.S.—The fact that you will invite both Arab and Jewish delegates presents no problem in Turkey."

Enclosed is a list of questions for BR concerning Cyprus, and membership in Cento and NATO. Dino asks BR, "If you decide to reply to those or any other questions, please send me three signed copies." BR did reply for publication.

Kevenk represents the Turkish delegation, Conference pour la Dénucléarization du Bassin Méditerranéen. The conference is to be held in Algiers 5-9 July 1964.

Upon discussing the matter of Gollancz's proposed conditions for peace in post-WWII Europe, a friend of Gollancz, "who was until recently a very high official of the Control Commission in Germany", thought that, rather than sending a letter to The Times, something from the draft copy Gollancz sent in the last letter could be printed in leaflet form. It could have "a really immense array of names, perhaps a thousand" and be circulated to the press. Gollancz asks BR's opinion of this idea.

Gollancz has revised the draft with amendments from Gilbert Murray who has been "extremely enthusiastic". The only major change is the omission of "unification", as "it would be better to say nothing about that topic." Murray believes that the best way to publicize the letter is to have it signed by BR, Murray, Gollancz, and if possible Halifax or Templewood "for the Tories". Gollancz will not contact the latter two until he hears from BR. The three-page draft is enclosed, as well as a copy of a letter to Murray from Gollancz.
