Dear Professor Aslam,
Thank you for your very interesting letter. At the moment, the World Peace Brigade is attempting to fulfil some of the tasks you suggest in your proposed organisation. I am sorry to say that in my experience the formulation of worthy remedies to the ills of the world is not as difficult as obliging insane governments to accept them. Pugwash, which has gathered the most eminent scientists of the world together, has no influence on the brutal politicians of east and west that one can notice. That is why I am devoting my energies both in Pugwash and in the Committee of 100 towards the preparation of a resistance movement and a public awareness of the imminent threat to life and all that man has achieved.
I am enclosing some literature which I hope you will find of interest.
With warm good wishes,
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
P.S. Thank you very much for your Address. I am honoured that you should find my work of such value to you.
