Dearest Alys

The only cathedral at all on the way to Kirkby, so far as I know, is Lichfield — Lincoln is nowhere near the route. I enclose a letter from Arthur Dakyns, and have put trains on the back of it. Thee will see they are very undesirable. Arkholme is 4 miles from K.L.

From Arthur’s letter he seems doubtful of coming. I didn’t remember the terms of the Hotel in Skye. Perhaps thee would write and reassure him. If possible, I should like to spend two or three days with Crompton walking after we leave Skye; or somehow we could perhaps both join him somewhere.

All well here. I hope my bag will turn up soon.

Thine aff
Bertie
