I am sorry Val has not got a scholarship. It will disappoint him, and increase the expense for us. Please let me know the value of it as soon as possible. — I presume my bag has turned up by now. The dress-clothes will need to be ironed, probably, as they have been squashed so long.

The posts will be slower from Dungeon Ghyll, so don’t be surprised if thee doesn’t hear the day after tomorrow. I expect we shall stay there till this day week. Has thee engaged rooms at any hotel in Oban for the night? If not, better do so — there will be a frightful crush just then.

I am much amused to hear of Major Elgood’s nervousness. I should not have guessed it.
