BAGLEY WOOD,
OXFORD.
Friday
Dearest Alys
Thy telegram has just come — from Sloane Square, which seems an odd place. I am very sorry indeed Karin’s hearing is so bad. Plainly it won’t be worth while for her to stay at Newnham if she feels it as much as that, even if it is really not worse than another place would be.
Yesterday our Committee (or rather Sub-committee) began at 11, and I left the committee still sitting at 5.30. Miss Ashton is back, and gave me lunch. We have to appoint a successor to Miss Palliser, and I think we shall try to appoint 2 or 3 in place of one; but we shall begin by temporary appointments. Miss Gardner seems to win good opinions from every one. I am anxious to here all about Worcester from thee.
We decided that there ought to be meetings all over the country between now and Feb. 28, when Stanger’s Bill comes on. So there is to be no rest for the weary. I said I thought Oxford might have a bit of a rest. With this proviso, I saw no objections.
Thine aff
Bertie.
