My Darling Love —I was glad to get your lovely letter this morning, and ashamed of the scrap I had written you. I am very much relieved to hear you are better — I was anxious about you. Glad about Sands too. I miss you dreadfully — much more than when I am away speaking, because then I am busy. After the children are gone to bed I get quite melancholy for want of you — soon I shall think there is something the matter with my great toe, like Prof. Ellis. It will be only that I want you. — I have written to the people where we bought the Tansadette1 claiming the value of the hood and telling them to write to you.a It arrived damaged yesterday. The hood is torn so that it won’t keep rain out. The sweep is coming Saturday. — Kate has a big double tooth coming, but is very jolly except at moments. She walks the whole way up the stairs unaided. John remembers everything, down to the minutest detail. He even remembered a certain point of the road where he once heard a robin singing, and was disappointed because there was no robin this time. I didn’t know he remembered even the word “robin”. Nurse says nothing is wrong with the pram. But a spare strap will do no harm. I will see Matthews about kitchen range.
Vast amount to do. Must stop. All my love, Sweet Treasure. I can’t tell you how I long for you.
