My Darling Love1 —
I wish I knew how you are — it worried me leaving you so ill. The house has stood the winter rather well — the only place where the rain has come in is in the small attic. There was some plumber’s work to be done but it has now been done. The push-chair, of course, had been sent by goods — it was there but couldn’t be got till today — I am hoping for it soon. The night of our arrival was the coldest I have ever known here, and yesterday morning we woke up to deep snow. But there was bright sunshine all day and I sat out on the beach while John made castles — it was as warm as summer down there. I made John a snow-man and took him out into the snow. Kate is very well, tho’ still a little worried by a tooth. Business being attended to. All flourishing — we all want you. Makew will pump and do garden after 5; has job till then. All my love, Darling. Take care of yourself.
