My Darling1

I got your letter this morning and your wire last night. It is very exciting — I am glad it is to be over quickly. I suppose it is definite that you stand for Chelsea? If so, it is very awkward not having our house. Perhaps the tenants would clear out on Monday? I will of course speak for you as often as is desired. I am engaged 22nd, 24th, 27th. Presumably Wells’s week-end is off. If you wish, and the tenants clear out, I can come up on Monday or Tuesday, though I doubt if it would help you. Hannah is quite agreeable and will do anything.

I see you had a breeze with Will Thorne about B.C. (your group I mean). It is a good thing it is postponed — you couldn’t discuss it in an election atmosphere. The Libs are swine. I hope they will be wiped out.

I see from the paper that Penzance had 3 inches of rain the other night. It did not come in anywhere except over nurse’s bed, next the bathroom, and not badly there. I think that may have been due to the tank overflowing.

So your “Court Dress” resolution was shelved! All well with all of us. I long to be with you but don’t like to leave the children. Good luck to you! All love.

B.
