My Darling1 —
Your telegram arrived while I was still in bed. Thank you for sending it. So we shall have an election next month! What a treat.
I see the Communists were downed even more than the Executive demanded. So that’s that.
I wish the Election had been on the Russian Treaty. It is beastly having it on a small issue, and in defence of an asinine scoundrel. However, the issue of free speech is involved, and is important.
I am opening halfpenny envelopes for you and not forwarding them unless it seems necessary.
It is dismal without you, and I am longing to get back to you. All goes well here. All love, my Darling.
