My Darling
By this time you have heard MacDonald’s speech and are in the thick of it — it must be rather exciting. — I got your p.c. and John got his puffer-book, which caused him an ecstasy. He wanted to take it out with him, but wasn’t allowed; all the time he was out he kept saying “you got a nice book in John’s house”. He told me yesterday that he was going to America to get a new Daddy! It poured all day, but both babies were as good as gold, and are flourishing. John seems much better. Thank you very much for the Detective Magazine — you should have kept it first for yourself. — The house seems very silent and empty and I miss you dreadfully. However, it won’t be long — I got the seat tickets all right, thank you. I paid Daisy and Nurse and Laundry but did no other jobs yesterday because it was so wet.
Take care of yourself Darling. Keep warm, get sleep. I wonder how the Conference is going. The election atmosphere is bad for b.c. I see Mussolini made a speech opposing it on militarist grounds. All my love, my Treasure.
B.
