My Darling Treasure

I am in the middle of another very busy time. Yesterday I lectured in Williamstown, in the N.W. of Mass, today in Brunswick Maine, tomorrow both in Wellesley and in Harvard. So life is real, life is earnest.

In another fortnight I shall have given my last lecture — God be praised.

Yes, I want to talk politics with you. One must admit that J.R.M. has handled France well; that problem, which looked insoluble, seems to be working out. If so, one must forgive much.

How I long to be at home with you and John and Kate. When one is used to affection, it becomes very difficult to live among strangers. I am weary in spirit, though very well in body.

I sail on the Celtic, the same ship I came on. How I shall rejoice. Dear Love, I can think of nothing but longing to be with you again. Nothing interests me when you are absent. No time for more. I love you, my Heart’s Life.
