My Darling Colette
Thank you for your lovely little letter.2 The newspapers, so far as I was concerned, made much too much fuss;3 I did not realize there was danger, and had only a short swim. Everybody has made much of me, and it has greatly increased the success of my tour. But it is horrible to think of the 19 people trapped and drowned close by, of whom I and the others at my end of the plane4 knew nothing. At the time I did not guess that lives had been lost.
I think constantly how lovely it will be when you are established in Wales.
Bless you, my dearest. Fondest love.
B.
