My dear Colette

John2 sends his thanks for the Crystallised Fruit and the letter. He has not been told anything about tummy aches, and the grown-ups have not even tasted the fruits, though severely tempted. Thank you also for the picture of you,3 which is very good.

Bob4 is away, but his wife5 says the translation6 is published by the Liverpool University Press, in a longer form than when it was acted.

I wonder where you went in Cornwall.7 You can’t see any of the nice places from a car — it is the actual coast that is good. I don’t suppose you passed our house, as it is not near any main road.

John sends his love, and would no doubt write to you if I suggested it, but he is having a holiday so I don’t. Kate8 was three yesterday. With much love,
