My dear Colette
For a very long time I have been wishing to write to you and ask if we could be friends, but I have been afraid you would not wish it. I wish very much to see you again. Miles3 gives me news of you from time to time, and you have been very much in my thoughts. If you would not mind, do let us see each other again.
My life is very much changed by having children,4 which I always desired intensely. I find them even more of a happiness than I had thought they would be. I should like you to know them.
I don’t know your address but I suppose your mother5 will forward this.
