My dear dear Love
Thank you for your letter of Aug 26 which I got yesterday. It was a wonderful time at Clacton4 — my Beloved, I do love you — Here too the moon is wonderful — I have walked along the Seine at night and it was very very beautiful — Your dear letter makes me sad — I feel you are sad, and I am sad too when I think of the long long time we shall be apart, and wonder about the future. But I do not think we can ever lose what there is between us —
I work endlessly at my Russian book5 — it won’t be hasty — most of the work was done before I left London. I hate the Bolsheviks getting defeated,6 in spite of not having liked them — I feel their enemies are worse. I am very happy with Dora7 — I care for her much more than before she went to Russia — But there is something in the love that you and I have that I shall not find elsewhere —
The publishers will send you the Russian book — you needn’t bother about ordering it. It can’t possibly be out before November.
My Heart’s Comrade,8 I love you — my thoughts are with you constantly — bless you, Beloved —
B.
