My dearest Darling

I am most dreadfully sorry but I can’t come to Grantham4 — I could have come to St. Alban’s but Grantham is too far — I must get English endorsements and Spanish visa5 by Tuesday morning at latest and can’t be sure of managing it if I come to Grantham — It makes me quite miserable not to see you when at last you are in a happy mood again — I shall be home about April 6 or 7 — just after Easter — and I think then I shall be in England at least 10 days — Will you keep some time free for me then? I do long to see you my Beloved — I love you, Colette, my Heart’s Life —
