My dearest Darling
Your letter3 about Roberts4 was waiting at the P.O. yesterday afternoon — the man is a damned scoundrel — I can’t imagine how anyone can be so utterly heartless and cruel — it makes me more indignant than I can say — Your telegram5 came at breakfast this morning — thank you for it —
I do hope you will get work — These disappointments are enough to drive one wild. It is a thing to set one’s teeth over, as one did over the war — one must swear to emerge still alive at the other end of the tunnel.
It would be divine if you could come here — it grows more and more beautiful — We are just starting for a day’s boating so I must stop. Littlewood6 has been demoralized by me and no longer does any work — My Beloved, my heart is yours, and my thoughts are with you every moment in devotion and tender love. Bless you, my wonderful one.

Littlewood John Edensor Littlewood (1885–1977), mathematician. He and BR shared a farmhouse near Lulworth during the summer of 1919. His “demoralization” by BR is a mystery.
