My Darling
I have had no letter from you — it seems an age since I saw you, though it was only the day before yesterday —
C.A.4 is gone and I feel very lonely — Tomorrow I have to go to the Whiteheads5 for the day, which I hate. — I have finished my lecture for next Tuesday6 — it is the best yet, and gets better as it goes on — I wish you had been willing to hear it all — it is much easier to understand than any of the others —
Do you think the day will come when you will allow me to show passionate love7 once more? You said the other day that you didn’t know how to repulse people, but you always know how to repulse me —
Goodnight —
