My Darling Love

One line to thank you for making everything so lovely here2 — it is all full of your loving thoughts — The peacocks give me infinite delight — the shaving-mug is delicious — the chair is most comfy — altogether I feel it will be very nice here.

It was a lovely holiday3 we had — you were so dear. I felt very full of love, and I have come away with my heart so warm and happy — Dear one, my lovely Cherub — I bless you and my thoughts are always hovering round your dear head — Goodnight my most precious Love —

Your
B.

so lovely here Colette had decorated rooms for BR at Clifford Allen’s flat, 70 Overstrand Mansions, Prince of Wales Road, Battersea. BR shared this flat with Allen beginning in February 1919 on and off until he left for China in the late summer of 1920. The rooms were painted white and looked out on trees.
