most important discovery in work BR drafted a “preliminary outline” titled “The Analysis of Mind” (1 in Papers 9) in this month. The discovery may also be incorporated in “On Propositions” (20 in Papers 8). Both papers are related to The Analysis of Mind (1921; B&R A35). As Ray Monk comments, “Unfortunately, he did not specify what the discovery was” (Bertrand Russell: The Spirit of Solitude, 1872–1921 [London: Cape, 1996], p. 345). His letter dated 28 January 1919 explained that he has "hit on a satisfactory theory of 'belief', which has been my main problem for a long time past" (BRACERS 19422, document 200412).
