My Darling

It was lovely to get your little line of Monday evening this morning. I keep wondering how you are getting on — This place is wonderfully beautiful. One sees from one’s bedroom window a great expanse of sea, the rocky headlands on the way to Porlock, the steep woods of the Lynn valley, and the coast of Wales. The sound of the sea never stops, and every now and then the cry of the sea-birds comes floating up. The day was stormy, but towards sunset it cleared in the west and grew inconceivably beautiful: the sea was a dark dark purple, almost black — If you come Saturday you will be just in time for the moon. The hotel is comfortable, the people kind; only two other visitors, of a harmless description.

Wire as soon as you know whether you can come Saturday.

Thank you for your darling little letter, my Cherub — All love —

B.
