My dearest Loved One
Yes, I will be patient — I don’t want to discuss any more — I won’t talk about you to Miles3 — I think it is best not to meet during these 3 weeks — I will just wait. If you wish to see me during the 3 weeks4 of course I will come.
Don’t worry as regards me. I am all right and you can trust my love.
I know how terribly you are suffering and how great a thing you are sacrificing. I wish it were otherwise — I love you and it is love that has made me do what I have done. Heaven help us all —
B

during these 3 weeks In her letter of 27 September Colette had written: “I’m going to see parts of the film run off this morning, and tonight I’ll be seeing Maurice to say goodbye. I wonder if you know how difficult work during these next three weeks, under these forced conditions, is going to be.” It took three weeks to finish Hindle Wakes (BRACERS 113067).
