My Darling Darling

It seems absurd to write tonight when I am going to see you tomorrow morning, but I must just write to say I love you I love you I love you. I hope you will always find me worthy of your love — I could not go on if I lost you — at least I feel now as if I could not. You are so many things to me — a radiant morning star, the harbinger of all the dawning beauty of the world — our Lady of Sorrows, watching over and sharing all the wayward troubles of mankind — primeval Wisdom, welcoming the Wanderer’s return — I am wayward, uncertain, violent, and you are gentle with the gentleness of unconquerable strength. My whole soul worships you with utter devotion — in you it finds its home, the home it sought through all the weary years. O my love, I cannot tell you all the passion that burns within me. Our talks these days have been so divine. Every word you speak makes me love you more my Dearest.

I have finished my review of Ward, which is a comfort. It is very dull because I didn’t want to say all I really thought. I found the letter from you that I spoke of — it was written the day before Carlyle Square. It was the one in which you said you felt we must part. I will show it you if you like — but it is only ancient history — I have no feeling of that sort now. Don’t feel I want to shut you up in a prison, for indeed indeed I don’t.

Goodnight my Star. I cannot bear to stop — I want to be talking to you so much. My soul thirsts for you Ottoline my loved one. Goodnight goodnight,

Your
B.
