"Monday night." "My German [Wittgenstein] is hesitating between philosophy and aviation; he asked me today whether I thought he was utterly hopeless at philosophy, I told him I didn't know but I thought not. I asked him to bring me something written to help me judge. He has money, and is passionately interested in philosophy, but feels he ought not to give his life to it unless he is some good. I feel the responsibility rather, as I really don't know what to think of his ability."
This is in Auto., 2: 99—also "at end of 1st term".

My Darling Love
It was a very delightful time today in spite of being so short, tho’ I feel I didn’t get nearly all your news. Darling it is such a joy to me that you feel, as you say, intimate, so that you can say anything to me. You know that everything about you interests me, and your way of feeling about things is always delightful to me. — I caught my train, tho’ with not much time to spare. I hadn’t time to see about tickets before my lecture, and afterwards the box office was closed. My German will inquire tomorrow (there is a performance Sat. afternoon). My German3 is hesitating between philosophy and aviation; he asked me today whether I thought he was utterly hopeless at philosophy, and I told him I didn’t know but I thought not. I asked him to bring me something written to help me to judge. He has money, and is quite passionately interested in philosophy, but feels he ought not to give his life to it unless he is some good. I feel the responsibility rather, as I really don’t know what to think of his ability.
I shall reach my flat by 11.30 tomorrow almost certainly, as the train I come by is practically never late. I will bring up my mother’s things if I don’t forget. — Darling, I am glad we shall have a longer time on end tomorrow — it is tantalizing the way we just begin to talk and then have to stop. Goodnight my Beloved — I do always long to be with you when I am away.
Your loving
B
