My Darling
Your note on plans2 has just come. I sent two letters to Studland,3 which will miss you. They told you that my visit to the Dr.4 was wholly satisfactory. I find the Whiteheads are certainly at Marlborough.5 I am available all Friday, and Monday from 12 onwards. I saw a charming but rather expensive cottage, Cheyne Cottage, Cheyne Row.6 Have a look at it if you can. Two sitting rooms, two bedrooms, one bathroom — servant sleep out. Furnished, unfortunately, but rather nicely. Worth thinking of. Will be available in 3 months if not sooner, and can be had 3 months at a time.
I had not time to examine anything else. Restaurant near, which would send in a meal.
If you do care to come here Monday in spite of the time being short, I could catch the 12.20 at St. Pancras7 if you would meet me in the train. But perhaps a less hurried day would be better for Camb., and Monday we could stay in London.
No more time. Goodbye Darling. I am sorry I sent my long letters to Studland.8 Try to get them — they had various important things in them. I long for Friday. Goodbye.

my visit to the Dr. One letter related the satisfying news that BR’s mouth was free of cancer (BRACERS 131528).

I find the Whiteheads are certainly at Marlborough. Alfred North and Evelyn Whitehead. He and BR were still at work on Principia Mathematica, of which the first volume had been published. Evelyn advised BR on keeping his affaire with Ottoline discreet. The Whiteheads had a country home at Lockeridge, near Marlborough in Wiltshire.

Cheyne Row It was close by Cheyne Walk, where BR and Alys lived in 1902–05. BR noted this address among others, on a sheet he reused for letter 48A, BRACERS 17116, on 30 April 1911.

St. Pancras The King’s Cross terminus of the rail line to Cambridge and a tube stop.

Studland They planned to meet at the British Museum at 11:35 that morning (28 April). Contrary to SLBR 1: 363, this was their next meeting after Studland. It was “heavenly day” (BRACERS 17114).
