Dear Unwin
My book on Human Knowledge: its Scope and Limits makes good progress, and the first draft is nearly finished. I hope to finish the book next summer. It will be about 150,000 words, possibly more. I am now quite willing to make a contract with you about it. I do not at present need any advance, being unusually prosperous. But I should be glad if there were some provision that I could have an advance, say next summer, if necessary. I suppose it may be possible to publish in autumn 1948. When will the History be out?
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
