My dear Irina
Thank you very much for the delicious tea — and for your very nice letters. I am trying desperately to get a habitation in or near London, and when I do I shall be visible. Meantime, I am marooned here except for occasional nights in hotels, and then I feel I am probably being observed by detectives. I want to join with my son John and his family in a house; then I can be visited without providing evidence.
What you write about “snowy peaks” is the sweetest and most delicious flattery. I am interested about your artist’s work.
Your offer of another cake is infinitely kind. I should love one.
Yes, I am more cheerful than I ought to be. Peter rang me up solely to expostulate because she heard I was cheerful. My affairs remain unsettled but I hope they will be cleared up soon.
Much love.
Yours ever
BR
