Dear Mr. Britton,
I have racked my brains to think of a philosopher who would be any good as regards your book. You really want somebody like Sartrea, who combines philosophy with works of imagination, but I do not know anybody in England who fits this description. Every British philosopher I have been able to think of would be quite hopeless at the job, so I must leave it to you to take the risk, which I am afraid is considerable.
Yours,
