Dearest Elizabeth

Thank you for your letter. I had masses of work to clear away, but am now entering upon a period of leisure which I hope will last the rest of my life. It will begin at midnight of Jan. 8. That being so, I could come to you on Jan. 9 if that suits you, or later if later is better for you.

Sweden was great fun in retrospect. At the moment, much of it was rather boring. But the cash was nice.

I think there will be war, and propose to act on that assumption.

It is nice being treated like a Christmas tree!

Love to you both.

Yrs aff
