Dear Mr. Hansson
Thank you for your kind letter. I should like to come to Sweden, and your suggestions are satisfactory as regards currency. What I should need would be (1) payment of my fare by air from London to Stockholm and back, (2) about double of my hotel expenses in Stockholm for one week. I do not know what these two would amount to.
But in order to get permission from the British government to go to Sweden, I should need an invitation to lecture somewhere — either at the university, or at some society concerned with international relations. If you can secure such an invitation, I will come with pleasure.
I will send you something that I hope may be suitable for your magazine, and shall be glad if you will keep back payment till I come. It will be pleasant to do what I can to promote the sales of my History of Western Philosophy.
Kindest regards to Mrs. Hansson and yourself.
Yours very truly
Bertrand Russell
P.S. My wife will not be able to accompany me.
