BR asks for his old letters to help in his Autobiography. A photostat of this letter was sent to BR in 1949 or 1950; see document .054766f.
BR has been busy: Reith Lectures, took Conrad to south of France and Sicily (part holiday and part lectures), and has been preparing an autobiography. He goes in a few days to Paris for UNESCO, and next summer Australia. "In the interval I address the armed forces, working men at Oxford, earnest atheists, etc." He will have to inform Death that he is too busy to die.

Dearest Miriam
I have been meaning to write to you for ages, but as it could always be put off one more day, it always was. I have been, as usual, very busy. I did “Reith Lectures” for the B.B.C., published as Authority and the Individual. I took Conrad to the South of France and to Sicily — part holiday, part lectures. During the summer I have been preparing an autobiography. In a few days I go to Paris for Unesco. Next summer I go to Australia. In the interval I address the armed forces, working men at Oxford, earnest atheists, etc. When the time comes to die, I shall have to inform Death that I am too busy just now.
I wish I could think you were ever coming to Europe. It is painful to think I shall never see you again.
If you write, address Trinity College Cambridge, as my address is uncertain. If you have any old letters of mine you can spare, do send them; they would help my autobiography. Goodbye with much love.
B.R.
