Dear Kate
I have written to Simon and Schuster asking them to send you $400 (the equivalent of £100) out of the royalties due to me on Feb. 1. You can tell Child’s to transfer £100 from your account to mine, but don’t let it appear as a transaction in which there is a quid pro quo. I quite sympathize with your wanting a trousseau, and it is annoying to have money in England that you can’t touch.
Peter, after being ill for a long time, had to have her gall bladder out. She is recovering well, and should soon be better than she has been for years, but as yet is only convalescent.
I am here a few days longer; Peter and Conrad will be here for about another month.
Very many thanks for the parcel (not yet arrived).
Happy New Year and much love.
Yrs aff
Diddy
