My dear Kate

Thank you for a very nice letter. It is sad that the Atlantic is between us, but I am sure it is better for you to be in America. I am sorry we failed to do anything about your birthday. I am going to send Times’s to you when I can.

I am being very busy and very successful — I spoke twice in the Lords,1 I have masses of articles to do, plenty of money, and fewer worries than at any time since 1927.2 I want to <text excised from photocopy by K. Tait>

We have bought a cottage at Festiniog, near Port Meirion, and are leaving here on July 31.
