Dear Gilbert,

I have been reading your reminiscent broadcasts with a great deal of pleasure. As is natural, I particularly enjoyed the one about Cambridge which recalled vivid memories of half a century and more ago. I was very glad of the things you said about Verrall for whom I had a great admiration although I knew nothing of his merits as a scholar. You did not tell the story of what he said to Granville Barker about Jane Harrison and a Mycenaean hut. I suppose you thought it would be unkind to her. As I wait to read them in the Listener, I am not quite up-to-date in your talks, but this has the advantage of leaving me more to look forward to.

Yours ever,
B.R.
