Dear Gilbert,

Thank you for your letter. I am not much surprised that you and Santayana had no very vital contacts.

What you tell me about De la Warr is rather amusing. I am quite convinced that it is rubbish. I am sorry to say that I know of no physicist with abundant leisure. They are all much too busy with the job of exterminating the human race. I wrote a silly story lately about two rival sects which had ideas like De la Warr’s. I think it just possible that you may find it amusing and so I am sending it to you. Don’t bother to read it, if it bores you. It is one of a collection and I am sending also the preface to the whole lot. I should like the typescript back some day.

Yours ever,
B.R.
