Dear Sir Stanley,
The Gates of Zion wrote a very hostile review of the History of Western Philosophy, accusing my husband of anti-Semitism because he criticized Bergson. He wrote to the Editor pointing out that he praised Spinoza, but he still seems very cross. You will notice that in the enclosed letter he requests my husband to “order” you to send him a copy. I have replied that he is not in the habit of “ordering” you to do anything at all and would in no circumstances do so, and that he should apply to you direct for a copy of the book. We think there is no reason why you should give him one in order that he may go on attacking it without expense.
In great haste as we leave for Wales,
Yours sincerely,
Patricia Russell
