Unwin has "the rather untidy ms" of History of Western Philosophy. BR believes it would be better to print from the proofs than the ms. He requests £500 to use towards purchasing a house, as none are to be rented.

Dear Unwin
I now have the proofs from America of the whole of my Western Philosophical Thought and can let you have them instead of the rather untidy MS you now have. I imagine you are not starting printing yet, but if you are I can send you the proofs as soon as you like. It would be better to print from them than from the MS you have.
I have found it necessary to buy a house, as none are to be rented. That being so, would you mind letting me have £500 of the advance on the History that you were kind enough to promise? I suggest your sending it, not to me, but direct to my Bank,
Glyn Mills & Co.
(Child’s Branch)

as this will save time and I have to pay a considerable sum at once. I shall be very grateful if you will.
Yours very sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
