Dear Warder
First: warmest thanks for the lovely train book for Conrad — it gives exquisite delight. Your business would be easy if other readers were equally enthusiastic.
Second: Thanks for the copies of my book. I like the get-up and am altogether satisfied.
Third: Carnap only needs to have the book sent him. I have talked with him, and he is quite willing to give it a puff.
Fourth: I am very sorry about your conjunctivitis. I hope it is gone now.
Fifth: I forget what names I gave you before for sending my book to. I can only think of:
Quine.
Charles W. Morris (Chicago)
Dr. Isabel Creed (UCLA)
Dr. Hans Reichenbach (UCLA)
John Dewey
Prof. Ernest Hocking (Harvard)
All these may be useful. To some, perhaps most, I believe you have already sent copies.
As for Carnap, my only suggestion is to get his name right. In your letter, he is called “Carnack”. The hotel here announced him as “Kok-a-Nok” and I expected a Mongol.
Best New Year wishes to you both.
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
