Dear Warder
I sent off yesterday the last batch of galley proofs. When I get the page proofs I will get some one to make an index, but otherwise I see no occasion to have any one else read the proofs.
It is very inconvenient to me to send back the typescript, and I am surprised at your wanting it, because I have never before been asked for it. As for “author’s altercations” [a good phrase], I have made almost none except to put single letters (x, p, and so on) in italics, which was done in the typescript sometimes, but not always. For this kind of correction, I am to blame; for the few others, the printers are to blame. Can’t you settle the matter on this basis? You must admit that my corrections are not heavy. If you insist, I will of course manage to send it to you.
The above is my address, at any rate for the month of October. It is also Peter’s and Miss Campbell’s.
All good wishes.
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
