Dear Warder
Thank you for your letter about Princeton some time ago. I have today heard from Flexner that, for the reasons you suggested, they cannot have me, at any rate at present. This is a disappointment, but perhaps something else may turn up. I suppose you don’t happen to know whether there is any chance of a job, say at Columbia, which once gave me a gold medal. I see that Flexner thinks of me as a mathematician, but for academic purposes I count as a philosopher.
Your half-yearly royalty statement, which I received recently, was somewhat discouraging. I always feel guilty towards you when I see the huge advance unearned on the Scientific Outlook.
We are much looking forward to seeing you both, but I hope you won’t just clash with Peter’s confinement, for which the most probable date is April 12. All goes well in that respect.
Yours ever
B.R.
