Dear Warder
I wrote in a hurry the other day about the book on my parents, and hadn’t time to answer yours of Feb. 28. I am sorry you thought I didn’t take your writing seriously! I did, but it dealt with matters not in my competence. So far as I could judge, I was wholly with you.
I should like to make the acquaintance of Bowers; his book, which you gave me, pleased me much. — “The Revolt against Reason”, alas, will have to wait. The book on my parents is just finished, but “RvR”a will take a long time.
What you say about your apartment is most kind. I cannot sail before Oct. 18, and do not yet know how the boats will be, but we hope to arrive about October 25 or 26. If we may use your apartment for the few days from then till Nov. 1, it may be a great boon; but of course Man proposes, Feakins disposes. Did I explain that the remark about “dirty Radicals and dirty Americans” was made by Queen Mary’s grandmother?
Spain is interesting and delightful; we think of settling there if we can sell this house. We enjoyed the triumph of the Left.
Best wishes to you and Polly —
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
