Dear Warder
Stanley Unwin sent me a letter of yours dated June 5, of which I have noted the contents. I am doubtful whether I can finish the book by the middle of January, and, if I can’t, it must wait for the autumn for publication. In Spain I got poisoned by bad fish, which made me very ill for a while, and then even more stupid than usual; this caused a considerable loss of time. However, I am hard at work now, and will let you know as soon as I can when I can hope to finish.
As you know, Liveright’s firm is bankrupt. Perhaps you could now acquire their copyrights, as I think they revert to me if royalties remain unpaid. I don ‘t want to reprint the book on Marriage and Morals, but the education book I should like you to have for reprinting some day.
I have had a document from a person calling himself Irwin Kurtz, 15 Park Row, N.Y.C., suggesting himself as proxy re Liveright and Co’s debts to me. But it has to be signed by me in presence of an American Notary Public, which is impossible. Does that mean that my rights lapse?
Yours ever
Bertrand Russell.
