Dear Warder
Your letter of July 18 reached me this morning, so I am at once sending you the proofs. I have accepted all the suggestions in your letter: except as regards p. 54 of the typescript (p. 72 of the proofs) where the point was not quite what you supposed; but has now, I think, been made clear. I have cut out all four propositions on p. 36 of the typescript (p. 52 of the proofs). Your reaction persuaded me that it was unwise, from a business point of view, to leave them in, but also how important, politically, it would be to emphasise them. However, it is not much use doing so in an incidental way.
I don’t think I need see proofs at all, as it is only a question of comparing with the copy. I will send you the Index as soon as it is in type. Can you get some one to alter the pages mentioned in the Index?
I am glad you are not more vexed than you are by my not adding a last Chapter.
Thanks for your kind letter about my letter to the New Statesman.
Yours very sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
